2013 Rd3 Race Report – Cosford

Home  /  Blog  /  Current Page

Well with the amazing February weather we are having it could have been a lot worse. The bank holiday and weather kept the numbers down, but the racing was still good. Well done to Martin Eadon for putting on a good challenging course.

The Veteran/G.Vet race once again showed the older guys are not slowing down, From the start Mick Pilcher/Numplumz pulled out a good gap after the first wooded section and held it to take his first FNSS win in the Veterans. behind him it was all GV action. Peter Busby/Jewson/MI Racing led for the first lap with team mate Tim Stowe on his tail. Stowe powered away from lap 2 and took his second win of the series and just passing Pilcher by the flag for first old boy home overall. Pete Harris/Pearce Cycles struggled with the wooded sections from the start but worked his way up the field on the open run alongside the river to take 2nd while Peterson held off busby for 3rd.

The next veteran home behind the hot GV racers was Mike Winters/Velo Club Rutland taking 2nd after overhauling fast starting Steve Giles/Numplumz who took 3rd. These two are going to be fighting for a top three series position all year.

Thanks to everyone riders and helpers alike on a cold night but hope you all agree a challenging course both technically and physically. I hope we don’t loose all of the venue and i am trying to extend further back hence the loop along the stream.
The guys on the “assisted” bikes asked to ride but not count in the result, fair play as they paid their entry – hope it didnt upset too many – good wheel to sit on though! They will ride my other races and as an added bonus we get to see World Superbike rider Sylvain Guintoli ride one of the events at Shuckborough – now there’s a challenge, beat the dude on 2 wheels!! Not many can.
A side issue. I have spoken to Neil and am thinking of running a Saturday afternoon series in Novemeber – 4 races at Cosford. If anyone else wants to add a venue and take a day from me then talk to me – could be a good end of season mini series – same FNSS format cost etc. Comments please.
